Side Kwento:  This is one of the best experiences namin during wedding preps. Favorite bonding time namin ni hubby ang mag foodtaste sa mga caterer na pasok sa budget namin. May napupusuan na sana kami ni hubby na caterer bago pa siya sumakay ulit ng barko. Pero nung nabasa ko yung about sa promo ng Purple Dish with collaboration pa with Gids Hermosa as stylist, nagpa-schedule kaagad ako ng foodtaste kay Chef Velmor.

During foodtaste, sinama ko ang pinaka the best cook na kilala ko and a very good critic when taste is the main concern. Sold na ko sa promo ni Chef Velmor with a lot of freebies all the more ng mag-approve ang nanay ko after. At dahil na-stress ako mag-finalize ng menu. Parents ko na ang pinapili ko during our final detailing. Personally, food serve during foodtaste were not the usual menu during weddings lalo na yung plating ni chef ang ganda talaga.

Uber nice si Chef, ramdam mo na passionate si Chef sa craft nya. And the desserts, grabe ang sarap talaga tapos we can avail of 8 kinds pa. Oh diba? Winner talaga!

Nakatuwa nga kasi blessing in disguise na hindi na available yung church sa supposed to be wedding date sana namin. Kaya nung nagpalit kami ng date we consider agad availability ni Chef Velmor of Purple Dish. Sobrang saya ko lang knowing na maka-attend ako ng mga gathering na si Chef mismo ang nagho-host. Instant EB  lang with fellow PD Brides.

On the day, lahat ng guest namangha sa set-up ni Chef akala nila nag-hire ako ng event stylist. And the food, sa cocktail pa lang daw busog na sila. May kanya- kanya silang paborito sa menu namin.  Up until now, di pa din nila makalimutan yung lasa. Yung iba nga umamin na nag-hoard pa sila ng maiuuwi sa sobrang sarap daw. . wehehe. =>

Pros: 30% discount with a lot of freebies. No service charge and no VAT. Ang ganda ng cake ko at ang sarap kahit di ako nag-upgrade. Nagka-prob ako sa cake topper ko kasi a week before our wedding nag-backout si supplier buti na lang nagawan ng paraan ni Chef.

Cake details...

The styling are nice din kahit na we only avail of the basic package. No upgrades for tiffany chairs and achieve ang nautical theme namin. Chef Velmor even help us on how we can save on styling. Una pa lang kasi sinabi ko na kay Chef na wala kami budget for styling. It was Chef's idea to look for a life ring to be placed on our backdrop. Luckily, naka-hanap kami sa Divisoria. Hinayaan ko na din siya mamili ng flowers for my centerpiece... =>

We were able to lock the price also kaya kahit na nag-increase si Chef di pa rin kami siningil sa mga upgrades na like salmon and roast beef. Nice din yung servings, di naman kinulang yung food. Chef also allowed us to convert the 3k GC to additional desserts pa kaya dumami pa lalo yung desserts namin. Pinadag-dagan namin yung mga best seller ni Chef para di agad mauubos. Plus ang cute lang ng idea na may Chef sa event mo..wehehe personal ko toh..=)

Cons:  We were expecting Gids Hermosa sana to do the styling for us kasi yun nga nakalagay sa promo. I’m not sure what exactly happen pero come our detailing nawala na sa eksena si Gids. Naging si Nikki ng stylento na tapos naging si Chef and his wife under Stylento na mismo. We’re not particular sa styling naman and wala din kami balak na mag-upgrade kasi nga budgeted kami. Although syempre si Gids Hermosa pa rin yun. But Hubby advised not to insist na with Gids kasi baka maapektuhan yung service ni Chef and baka magulo pa lalo. Since sinabi naman ni Chef na no need na to upgrade OK na din samin basta masarap yung food and quality of service… =)

Tips and Learnings:

1. Food should be the top priority. Totoong ito lang talaga ang maalala ng guest mo after the wedding. Secondary na lang yung ibang details.. =>

2. Take note of the other charges like the service charge,Vat, caterer's fee and out of town fee. Malaki matitipid if your caterer waived this kind of charges. You may want to double check on this item. Or you can request for this charges to be waived.

3. Take advantage of the food tasting event. This is to gauge how consistent the food are and the service they offer.

4. If you're expecting kids as guest, you can ask your caterer to avail of the kiddie meal. Kiddie meals are usually cheaper and if you're lucky you can also request for a table set-up specifically for them. This is to free the seats in your tables. Please note that even though they don't eat that much they can still occupy the regular seats unless kakandungin sila ng parents. Or you can just consider them as 1 head in your guest list.
